Smartphone Accessories Referral Program Examples: Ztylus

Ztylus sells multi-functional phone cases.

While there are all sorts of phone cases available in the market today, Ztylus differentiates itself by selling cases that perform several different functions all at once.

They achieve this by using an innovative ‘disc mount system’ – this system allows for multiple different attachments to be used with a single case. (As opposed to having to change your case each time!)

Here’s how the concept works:

Their ‘Revolver 4-in-1 Lens attachment‘, for example, allows you to switch between macro, wide-angle, CPL and fisheye lens when taking pictures with your iPhone.

We chatted with their team to learn more about their business.

Ztylus a fairly young company. They just started in early 2015, and have 10-15 team members.

They market their brand primarily through social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). They have customers from all over the world, and even have a large following in China.

They do some advertising (AdWords, Facebook ads, retargeting), but most of their traffic comes from word-of-mouth.

That’s both from regular users who post their pictures online with the Ztylus hashtag, and from established reviewers.

Here’s an example of one of the thousands of pictures taken with a Ztylus lens:

“How have you gotten your referral program to worked so well?”

T: “We target big influencers on YouTube, who review our product. They can share their referral links in the description, giving their viewers a discount when they get sent to our site. I think that’s really benefited a lot of those reviewers also.”

A reviewer from Btekt described Ztylus as “quite possibly the best looking iphone accessory that I have ever seen.”

At time of writing, the video has over 22,000 views.

T: “Besides YouTube, we’ve also gotten review articles that have referral links on them, and some of those have done pretty well. ”

Ztylus’s referral program gives a 25% discount to Referred Friends, while Advocates earn 10% commission (in cash!) on their friend’s purchase.
