Someone joins your referral or affiliate program because they want to be closer to your brand. A welcome gift can give them something of yours to try, use, and talk about.
With ReferralCandy’s new Product gift benefit, you can offer a specific product from your Shopify store for free. You choose the product and variant; your advocate or affiliate claims it through a discount code at your store’s checkout.
Make the welcome feel like your brand
When you have a particular gift in mind, choosing the item is part of the thank-you. A coffee brand might welcome members with a bag of its house blend. A skincare brand might offer a cleanser so new advocates can get to know the range. These are examples of how you could use a product gift, with an item you already sell.
The decision starts with your audience: what would they enjoy receiving, and what can your store comfortably give? Choose something that makes sense for the relationship you want to build.
You choose the gift. Members claim it in your store.
Select a Shopify product, then choose its variant. The variant dropdown shows stock and price, and out-of-stock variants cannot be selected. That gives you the information to choose the exact item you want to offer.
Eligible members receive an email with a claim link. The link opens your store with the gift in their cart and the discount applied. They complete checkout, and you fulfill the order through your store.
You also choose who pays shipping: your store or the member at checkout. The product is free; whether shipping is covered depends on that setting. You can set a total gift limit and choose who receives the benefit.
Set up a welcome gift
Product gifts are available now to all ReferralCandy merchants on Shopify. To create a welcome gift:
- Open your campaign’s Benefits page, click Add benefit, and choose Welcome gift.
- Name the benefit, use Product gift as the type, and select your Shopify product and variant.
- Choose who pays shipping. Review code expiry, who gets the gift, when they get it, and any total gift limit.
- Save the benefit, set Status to On, and save again. Review the activation prompt: if existing advocates qualify, choose whether to include them or give the benefit only to advocates who join from now on. Confirm with Turn on.
Start with one product you would be pleased to put in a new member’s hands. A thoughtful welcome gives them another way to experience the brand they have chosen to recommend.
